About 0rCA®
0rCA® recycles used fishing nets into materials for conventional industrial users as well as 3D printing/Additive Manufacturing, using a patented technology that can operate at a harbour-side scale. Our containerised, deployable recycling plants can produce a high quality, clean nylon recyclate suitable for export into European markets for lower impact plastics. Our Cornish plant operates to ISO9001and ISO14001 standards and our material products are backed by independent Life Cycle Assessments, showing that we can produce recycled Nylon 6 with only 2% of the carbon impact vs newly produced equivalents. That Patent Pending recycling technology has application in fisheries around the world, an industry that employs nearly 40 million people and feeds billions. In 3D printing our first product, Porthcurno, is made of 100% recycled nylon sourced from the MSC Certified Cornish Hake fishery based in Newlyn, Cornwall. It saves 97-98% of CO2-eq emissions vs virgin equivalent nylons. Our second product line, 0rCA®, is a blend of our recycled Marine Nylon® with 100% recycled carbon fibre and is aimed at engineering applications in 3D printing and beyond. We estimate that it saves 94-95% CO2-eq emissions vs virgin equivalents at directly comparable performance and price. Our material has also been used in injection moulding and is being developed for use in SLS-type additive manufacturing, but our ultimate focus remains on harbourside recycling technology for highly localised manufacturing, de-risking both upstream (fisheries) and downstream (industry) supply chains. Our work is underlain by two company/process specific Life Cycle Assessments that establish the carbon impacts of our processes and technologies.
