Since 2006, 10 Tanker has provided the wildland fire community with the most innovative retardant delivery service available utilizing the DC-10 aircraft and tank system. Hundreds of fire missions have been performed in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, South Dakota, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Washington and Wyoming as well as Alberta, Canada and Australia. The DC-10 delivers more gallons of retardant per load than any other IAB approved delivery system to date. This results in an unbroken defensive line of retardant 50 feet wide and more than two thirds of a mile long, or split the drop into any length and coverage level. With jet aircraft speed, 10 Tanker has the capability of rapid turnarounds at over 30 reloading bases allowing the DC-10 to deliver retardant to the fire and recover for a "load and return" with unequaled speed. The volume and speed at which the 10 Tanker DC-10 operate at ensures the firefighters on the ground, meet their control objectives, reduces firefighter exposure times, and reduces the number of flights required to control the fire. The DC-10 can deliver retardant at nearly one half the cost per gallon of retardant than any other delivery system.
