We own and operate the website Tickld (http://www.tickld.com), a user-generated content/online community website on a mission to spread laughter and cure boredom. A little over three years ago, James and Kyle founded Tickld with the intention of creating the ultimate procrastination destination on the Internet. What they didn’t know was how popular the concept would be. As more and more like minded people discovered Tickld, the Site developed into a community of funny, clever contributors and what began as a pet project quickly became a full-time job for James and Kyle. Tickld continued to grow as people told their friends, who told their friends. Soon Tickld became a worldwide community. This brought with it the challenge of keeping the Site up-and-running. At this point, Nic joined the team to head up development and infrastructure. Some key parts of the website were re-built to handle more Ticklrs, but also to allow for cool new sections and in-demand features. To avoid the dreaded Offline Eggs, the infrastructure grew from one to twenty servers along with the introduction of several caching solutions.
