The amount of work you put in is of course up to you, because once a critical amount of funding is achieved, by definition of that amount's guarantee, I am ready to do it all. You also get a home improvement without having to pay me a cent. I have professional experience in traditionally funded home improvement projects. I take pride in my work and any warranty issues can be resolved within a month of substantial completion. If the improvement product is a kind that naturally wears out, like for example painted walls in high traffic areas, some of the funding can be defined as for your upkeep, to be given to you at completion. I of course also do such minor repairs and upkeep with traditional funding. For those larger projects, because much of the initial sweat equity is provided by me, I reserve the right to stop work in a safe manner if my progress on the project exceeds the progress of guaranteed funding and funding received, as we define it. The larger projects are more fun because it allows us to get to know one another and really build something!
