About 500Rising

We are an international organization incorporated as a 501(c)3 in the US. We train trainers & educators to implement truly impactful experiences in women's self-defense and support our professionals as they provide powerful, useful effective workshops and courses in their communities. We emphasize the realities women face in a variety of cultural experiences rather than focus on the easy, comfortable (fear based) approaches. As one of our colleagues shared "everything you thought you knew about women's self-defense is about to change forever". How did we earn this accolade? We took a stand against the traditional approaches to education anchored in fear and amplifying the day-to-day worries persons Identifying as women already experience. We created a curriculum and philosophy emphasizing the natural, intuitive strengths women possess. We approach every course, every workshop with the absolute belief that we are all working from a place of strength growing daily to a new place of strength. We believe at our core that you have the right to take up space on the planet. If you choose to embolden your personal agency with training and education [in self-defense: awareness, assessment, prevention, physical management], we honor your choice with respect for your capacity to live a bold and fierce life.
