We are the Standard Steam Locomotive Company and as a Charity organisation, we are building a lost Class 6 'Clan' Locomotive. We want to preserve the history and heritage of this lost class by re-creating it with 21st-century design and engineering techniques, to enable this iconic steam locomotive to realise its full potential by making it greener and more powerful for mainline and heritage railways throughout the country. With our expert engineers, the new locomotive is being precision engineered in Sheffield, using state-of-the-art engineering techniques, so we can ensure the locomotive will retain all its original aesthetic beauty but take advantage of modern design to improve the overall performance and efficiency of the engine. It will be 'greener & cleaner' thanks to more effective production of steam, it will be more powerful, which is essential for steam operation on today's modern railway network and much more efficient, with improved fuel consumption.
