A J Ludlow Ltd is a British manufacturer of high-quality Professional Watercolour paints and other complimentary fine-art materials. The watercolour brand is “A J Ludlow”, although sometimes we refer to ourselves as “A J Ludlow Colours”, which we adopted because it is what we do, we make and sell artists’ colours. Our flagship product is a premium quality range of single pigmented watercolours offering a wide and balanced spectrum of 48 highly pigmented colours chosen for their unique hues and excellent permanence and high light fastness. Each colour is based on a single pigment and has been specially formulated around each pigment’s characteristics. Because they contain only pure pigment, the colours’ brightness, hue and transparency are uncompromised. Each watercolour is manufactured at our facility in Llanreath, Pembrokeshire with the best ingredients and finest pigments. Our business ethos is to follow in the footsteps of a traditional artist colourman to make watercolours for artists, focusing on the technical requirements and creative needs of professional practitioners. As a colourman, we pride ourselves on our “highly skilled artisan” approach; each batch of watercolour is lovingly manufactured by hand to the highest standards. It is to this end that we strive to shape our premium brand, offering a handmade top of the range product, steeped in the traditional, but also in conjunction with advanced science knowledge.
