If you have a little extra, you give it. If you need a little extra, you get it. A Little Extra, Inc is a 501c3 Non Profit organization dedicated to helping close the gap on paying for health care for companion animals A Little Extra, Inc was started by two friends, Jen Cole and Dr. Kent Smith. They met over 12 years ago when he was a vet at an emergency pet hospital and Jen came in with a pet with an emergency. They became fast friends, with Jen joining Kent in overnights at the hospital (bringing green bean and tater tot quiche) and Kent teaching Jen all about animal hospital management. In 2022 Kent opened his own beautiful vet hospital--Willow Animal Hospital, with Jen right there with him. First, by helping out stocking shelves and washing windows, then building a media plan, and once open, running the socials, creating graphics and marketing opportunities, and documenting the first two years of the hospital in pictures and stories Jen was his #1 cheerleader and sounding board. A Little Extra, Inc is a revolving fund that takes in money from fundraising and small donations and sends it back out in the form of medical grants a for pets and people who need a little extra to cover the cost of emergency care as well as gifts to rescues taking in broken and sick animals. It also helps cover the cost of lifesaving surgeries for strays brought to vets and animal hospitals by good samaritans. Kent died suddenly in June, 2024 and we are all still reeling from that loss. But we continue to support rescues, and all the pets and people that Kent loved, and will continue to raise money for those who need A Little Extra. A Little Extra, Inc. is managed by volunteers who also work veterinary, rescue, and non-profit management fields.
