Embracing change, choice and creativity in the world of funerals, A Natural Undertaking was founded in 2014 by Carrie Weekes and Fran Glover. There are too many myths surrounding funerals, all of which create barriers to our being able to grieve well. Knowing there are choices, knowing what those choices are and acting upon them is an important way to feel more in control of a situation that has been thrust upon us. Providing access to clear and transparent information, and enabling choice forms a huge part of our service. A truly good funeral is achievable whatever the budget: there should be no expectation about size and scale. There are many things that have become part and parcel of a funeral that really aren’t needed. We help people understand what they need versus what they might want, and together we help family and friends create farewells that feel relevant to the person who has died, and that they can really feel proud of. Our funerals celebrate life whatever your religion, need or budget. We arrange cremations or burials and incorporate green options as much as people would like. Our electric hearse is among one of the first in the country and is just one example of how we build more environmentally friendly options into the way we run our business. Since starting the business we have won a number of awards including Green Funeral Director of the Year 2015 and Modern Funeral Director of the Year 2016, and in 2017 we were reviewed and recognised by the Good Funeral Guide, a consumer group which champions good practice in the industry.
