About A Serendipitous Production
A Serendipitous Production Ltd was started in 2007 by Akua Ofosuhene and Jacob Webb. We also have a film educational arm ‘Closing the Gap’ which takes positive films about Africa into UK schools. We screen our short films as well as others by different filmmakers. Since 2007 we have made 2 short films for the award winning ‘Breaking the Chains’ exhibition at the British Empire & Commonwealth Museum in Bristol, 1 film for Aljazeera TV, 3 community films for Camden and Brent councils and have run filmmaking workshops for young people in London. In 2008 ‘Keep Her’ our 10 minute drama won the Images of Black women 2nd best new comer award. February 2009 we released ‘Queen Yaa Asantewaa & the Golden Stool’ documentary online and through Nollywood distribution roots and have a project in consideration for Aljazeera TV’s ‘People and Power’ strand. Currently we have teamed up with producer Lily Ross to make ‘Anokye’s Sword’ a 2D animation and are using crowd funding techniques to finance the film. We have a large number of events organised throughout 2009 to raise awareness and to build up a loyal fan base for this multimedia project.
