About A-STEP
Africa Sports & Talents Empowerment Program (A-STEP) is a Community Based Organization operating in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya. The organization embraces as its main goal and priority, the mobilization, motivation, training and development of young people to liberate them from social ills such as crime, poverty, prostitution, drug abuse, delinquency, violence among others. The organization harnesses the power of sports for peace building and conflict management. A-STEP is a visionary organization working to improve the quality of life in the community, coordinates many innovative sporting activities in collaboration with the local community, area Community Based Organizations (CBOs), as well as national and international Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs). The organization is a non profit, non political and non religious organization that seeks to include all people from different backgrounds without discrimination rather promoting and advocating for equity among and across ethnicity, tribe, gender, religion, sexuality or disability. Apart from promoting sporting talents, A-STEP supports development advocacy and social mobilization with key areas on social reforms, governance and democracy enhancement. Africa Sports and Talents Empowerment Program is registered with the Kenyan Ministry of Culture and Social Services as a Community Based Organization (CBO) in 2007.
