About Abel's Community Services
Working hand-in-hand with people from various communities throughout Tampa Bay to help them develop long-term plans on how to champion problems plaguing our communities. We realize that before we can inspire change, we must uplift spirits by first addressing the root of all problems – awareness and practice of positive, effective ways to cope with crises and tough times. To do this, we have developed three core programs that will aid in this first step: Our Kingian Nonviolence Training teaches others how to resolve conflicts peaceably through Dr. Martin Luther King’s principles of nonviolence reconciliation; the Godparents Program teaches self-esteem and self-discipline to children by pairing them with several adults and using positive group mentoring and mediation to address critical issues; and our Clean Slate Program provides job training and other needed services that effectively change ex-offenders’ perceptions of life's potential.
