In 2024, Abraxas became a member of the Hillmann Family of Companies. Abraxas Energy Consulting (AEC) provides expertise in commercial energy efficiency services, ranging from ASHRAE Energy Auditing, retro-commissioning services (RCx) and utility bill tracking software to energy managers, energy consultants, and Energy Service Companies (ESCOs). AEC also specializes in Energy Star benchmarking services to comply with various city ordinances, including San Francisco, Denver, and Boulder. AEC was founded in 2001 by John Avina, CEM, CMVP. Mr. Avina previously of SRC Systems, Silicon Energy and Johnson Controls, focused the early energies of AEC on helping ESCOs fulfill their energy analysis requirements. AEC focused early on Energy Audits and Measurement and Verification (M&V) software and services for ESCOs. The company is the master reseller of Metrix 4, a software product used to determine energy savings. It is estimated that over $4B in ESCO's savings guarantees are being tracked using Metrix. AEC supplies software and services to energy managers, ESCOs and consultants throughout the world. AEC has customers on 5 continents, and has taught energy management throughout the world, including in Brazil, Hong Kong, Thailand, Qatar, Spain and Bulgaria.
