I thought I would highlight a project from one of my most recent contract for services. The following paragraphs are not in great detail and do not mention the actual company but references are truly available. The following depicts a six month project being expanded to other areas and yielding a mutually beneficial three year challenge. When initially contracted the goal of the six month project was to put a plant which was the only such plant (unionized) in the multi-billion dollar organization aligned with the corporate ISO program. The plant had no in-process documentation, quality checks, or work instructions. Initial meetings with Quality Engineers from certified plants as well as the VP for this division yielded a long list of challenges. At this point I travelled to a couple of the plants to obtain atypical documentation and structure as not to duplicate efforts. As time went on I found that the certified plants had many uncommon procedures and without going into detail, I was challenged to help the certified plants get up to speed. Again these were ISO-9001 certified and audited existing plants. Along with the ISO project described above which is ongoing and currently on hold, all contracted services are on hold as the corporation was recently purchased. Additionally I was challenged by corporate to sit in on meeting on a product line which was on hold and had previously caused an injuries in the field. This product line was very profitable and needed to be evaluated from top to bottom in many obvious areas. At first there were corporate Directors, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers attending meeting but after a couple months the project was turned over to my group.
