About ACE Cardiff

ACE Cardiff was conceived and created as a charity by Gerry Puttock in the latter half of 2006 to bring together his experience of charity work gained in his time as a trustee with a Butetown, Cardiff charity and his 35 years in the recruitment and career counselling business. Near the end of 2009, Gerry was approached by parents in Butetown who wanted ACE to help their children with their school work. In February 2010 The Learning Club was opened with 8 children. Since then, over 300 children, aged 7 – 16 years, have registered with the club for help with Science, English and Mathematics. Around the same time, ACE was approached with the idea of installing computers in care homes for the use of the residents, introducing them to the benefits derived from digital technology, particularly with communication (email and Skype), family tree research and games designed to stimulate the mind. The engAGE project now has initiatives working in multiple care homes in Cardiff, and having achieved excellent results we’re looking to expand the services we offer to older people. In 2012 we were lucky enough to have world-famous singer Dame Shirley Bassey agree to become the Patron of ACE Cardiff. In June of 2016 we celebrated our 10th anniversary. ----- - Our job at ACE Cardiff is to provide the Access to support and guidance that harnesses these positive elements, for their benefit. - In many cases the catalyst is Confidence building. - We believe strongly that people gain greater benefit from their own Experience.
