About Acorn Alternative Provision

We are a charitable organisation dedicated to serving young people on the margins of mainstream education. We deliver educational programmes and interventions during the school day, in small, therapeutic learning environments across the UK. Our curriculum is needs-led, with a focus on supporting and closing gaps in English (including reading), maths and personal development learning. Our passionate and dedicated staff engage individuals at their points of need and interest, developing each young person’s whole character alongside their academic learning. This leads to improved opportunities in education and life beyond their time with us. We work with young people aged 11-16 who are not engaging in or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. This could be for a variety of reasons, including: - social, emotional or learning needs that are not being fully met at school; - mental health difficulties; - school refusal or phobia. At Acorn Alternative Provision, young people develop the skills and strategies they need to re-integrate and succeed back in school, along with qualifications that provide stepping stones towards further learning. We have an underpinning Christian ethos, which embraces and models the love, grace, compassion, forgiveness and hope that comes to us through faith in Christ. Our vision is to see these values at the centre of education. Our centres are safe places where some of the most vulnerable young people in our communities are loved, nurtured and enabled to grow and succeed. Each young person is accepted, challenged and encouraged. They are inspired to discover and develop their unique God-given abilities as they grow in confidence to see themselves the way that God sees them.
