About Acoustic Research Labs Pty
ARL was formed in 1990 to develop, service and maintain a long-term structural vibration and environmental noise monitoring system for use during the construction of the Governor Macquarie and Governor Phillip towers in the CBD of Sydney. The two-year monitoring plan was implemented principally as the means to protect the structural integrity of a series of fragile heritage listed buildings. The success of this initial project led to the further development of standalone monitoring instruments for noise and vibration. Throughout the 1990’s ARL continued to develop new environmental noise and vibration monitoring solutions including the EL series loggers 015, 215 and 31X. ARL then took on the role as Australia’s sole distributor of Rion instruments and has been operating in this capacity ever since, recently expanding our market to include New Zealand. In 1999 we became a NATA accredited facility for calibration and testing noise instrumentation and equipment. In the 2000's the Ngara™ Real-Time Sound Acquisition System was made. Ngara™ was developed with a focus on post-processing and has since been successfully deployed in many wide-ranging applications including permanent long-term remote logging and large-scale multi-logger measurement systems. ARL's newest and most innovative development is the Environmental Noise Compass™ (ENC). The ENC was developed with the environmental monitoring needs of the mining industry in mind. The challenge of developing a directional noise monitoring system was met by combining advanced acoustic signal processing with directional beamforming techniques employed in military sonar systems, culminating in an end-result that is intelligent, robust and low-maintenance. ARL’s vision for the future involves integrating cloud-computing into the field of acoustic measurement with Noise Cloud™, changing the way users view and store data as well as providing a cross-platform measurement analysis program.
