About Acoustical Investigation and Research Organisation (AIRO)
Acoustical Investigation & Research Organisation Ltd. (AIRO) is an independent acoustic consultancy and laboratory test house providing services, mainly to the construction industry, in the fields of acoustics, noise and vibration control. AIRO's consultancy services include carrying out environmental and traffic noise surveys and mitigation assessments for planning submissions and impact statements, sound insulation design, on-site sound insulation testing, industrial noise control, and the provisions of expert testimony in legal and planning hearings. The extensive laboratory facilities in Hemel Hempstead include test suites where the sound insulation performance of walls/partitions, floors, windows and doors can be carried out, a reverberation chamber for measuring sound absorption and sound power level (including air flow related work) and an anechoic chamber for specialised testing. AIRO is a member of the Association of Noise Consultants, a member of the British Measurement and Testing Association, a UKAS accredited testing laboratory No 0483 for a wide range of acoustic test procedures and also a UKAS accredited calibration laboratory No 4554 for the verification of tapping machines.
