ACRATS Training Services is specialised in composites (fibre reinforced plastics). Activities: - Providing training and courses in the field of fabrication and repair of composite structures and parts, sealing and metal to metal bonding - Set up and take care of Composite courses within Intermediate Technical Schools - Set up and take care of Composite courses within Universities of Applied Sciences Use of Composite Materials (Fibre Reinforced Plastics, FRP’s) creates lighter structures, which are stronger and have generally better resistance to environmental influences than traditional metals. Current education is mostly focussing on traditional materials. Design, manufacture and maintenance of composite parts require different mindset and different techniques are used. It is important that students and trainees acquire knowledge and gain practical experience with composite materials in order to close the gap between composite processors and the engineers/designers. We link theory to practice. Hands-on training combined with theory of composites ensures that students are building up knowledge instead of learning without understanding. Students are increasingly challenged to find out solutions themselves and to find the reasoning behind it. ACRATS Training Services is specifically focussing on: - Importance of working atmosphere (cleanliness, accuracy, quality) - Consequences of design choices on inspectability and maintainability/reparability - Relation between strength and stiffness at repair
