About Active Academy
At Active Academy we provide classes for children and adults with additional needs in schools, clubs, one to one or small groups. We develop programs and offer training to teachers, parents, volunteers & clubs working with children & adults through sport. With over twenty years experience our aim is to make sure that everyone has access to regular exercise. Our classes offer a safe, inclusive environment for our clients to develop their own little communities and feel that sense of belonging that our community will offer. Our classes are non competitive and focus on personal goals. We design specific programs based on the clients specific needs, ensuring that our classes are functional as well as being fun. The obvious benefits from our classes are things such as increased fitness, improved coordination, development of gross & fine motor skills and core strength but we also incorporate coping skills, mindfulness, socialising skills and instil habits that will benefit the children in all areas of their lives. Our motto is ONCE YOU ARE MOVING, YOU'RE WINNING. We focus on the ability of the participants and ensure that no limitations are put on them in our classes. We find out what the children's interests, skills and strengths are and ensure that we incorporate them into our classes. In schools and ASD Units we offer PE Blocks and after school programs. We also provide classes for children of siblings with additional needs offering them their own supportive community as well as coping skills and activities to encourage positive mental health. Active Kids Academy in conjunction with additional needs services provide summer camps and home activity guides for parents to help keep the children active during the summer months. We work with adults with additional needs too, within the services & clubs they attend, providing online classes and face to face classes. Whatever your needs we will design specific classes and programmes for you!
