About Active Sites
The research center ACTIVE SITES is a platform for scientists with common research interests in the field of interdisciplinary development of methods for the characterization of active sites in an aqueous functional environment. It combines disciplines from the natural sciences (chemistry, biology, physics) and engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen. The broad-based research program includes the field of heterogeneous catalysis, supramolecular chemistry as well as molecular biology and microbiology. The ACTIVE SITES research building will offer the structural framework for basic research and will provide topic-oriented, jointly used research areas and infrastructure with many open work spaces, shared laboratories and new large instruments.
