About Adelphi Kitchens & Cabinetry
In 1946, Adelphi Kitchens began as many small businesses do: in a garage, located behind the Yatron family residence in Reading, Pennsylvania. Originally named Yatron Brothers, all four brothers—Paul, Nicholas, Harry, and Stratton—were soon involved in the business. Their workspace served as a factory, sales room, and warehouse. By 1950, Yatron Brothers included not only the four partners, but five employees as well. After several years in Reading, the Yatron brothers worked tirelessly during night and weekend hours to build their own factory on Lancaster Pike, which they opened in 1955, now with twelve employees. Yatron Brothers remained at this location until 1962, when they purchased a 40,000-square-foot factory in West Lawn, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Reading. In addition to fine custom cabinetry, Yatron Brothers also manufactured a wide range of other products, such as Formica and chrome dinette sets; commercial store fixtures; bars, booths, and back bars for restaurants and social clubs; and institutional furniture for schools and college dormitories. Following their relocation to their West Lawn plant, Yatron Brothers was selected by the Chief Architect of the United States Capitol to manufacture 15 walnut display cases for exhibition of presidential memorabilia within the Capitol building. These display cases have been in use in the ground floor of the Capitol’s rotunda for over 55 years. As Yatron Brothers grew, its kitchen dealer network became the company’s main source of retail sales. The name of the company was changed to Adelphi Kitchens, Inc.—a reflection of the company’s brotherly origins. In 1984, Adelphi purchased a facility in Robesonia which previously housed the Caron Spinning Mills, quadrupling their production space from 40,000 to 160,000 square feet. Today, Adelphi has a nationwide network of nearly 250 dealers, some who have been customers since the late 1950s.
