Alternate Energy Innovations Pty. Ltd. (AEI) was founded in 2018 and is an innovative engineering and energy technology company whose core business is developing and implementing sophisticated energy solutions. Located in the Latrobe Valley, one of Australia’s biggest energy generating regions, we have seen firsthand the impact of rising energy prices and the aftermath of fossil fuel power station closures. Our electrical engineering knowledge allows us to understand the exact pressures being placed on out-dated grid infrastructure as we move to net zero emissions, and the headaches being created as the market becomes saturated with ineffective and inappropriate domestic and commercial solar installations. With over 40 years’ experience in systems engineering, design and automation, our founder Stephen Soutar, envisaged a more intelligent way. A way that would give control and precious time back to the consumer, while simultaneously solving some of the biggest problems that exist for AEMO, network providers and the energy grid. This was the beginning of AEI. After years spent analysing energy consumption, industry trends, and energy retailer models, we have designed, developed, and implemented the ‘AEI Smartbox’, and continue to work on building a bank of associated process control software to suit various applications and solve numerous problems in the marketplace. AEI combines process and control engineering, and experience in large scale generation and water management, with commercial and financial analysis of customer cost dynamics to deliver commercial business solutions. These solutions integrate renewable energy, water management, and cost control through process systemisation & automation to deliver real value for customers.
