About AELMHU (Spanish Association of Orphan and Ultra-Orphan Drug Laboratories)

The Spanish Association of Orphan and Ultra-Orphan Drug Laboratories (AELMHU) is a non-profit organisation that brings together pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with a strong commitment to discovering, researching, developing and marketing innovative therapies capable of improving the situation of patients suffering from rare and ultra-rare diseases. AELMHU's main objectives are: to raise awareness of the special characteristics of rare and ultra-rare diseases; to provide information on the value of orphan and ultra-orphan drugs for the treatment of these conditions; to collaborate in improving the diagnosis of rare diseases; and to facilitate access to these drugs for those affected by minority diseases. We also aim to achieve a stable, agile, predictable and transparent regulatory, administrative and political environment in which legal certainty is guaranteed. Our mission is to contribute to improving the health and quality of life of people affected by rare/uncommon diseases, raising awareness of these conditions and promoting research and treatments for them.
