About Aequo Foundation
Aequo Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to advancing racial and economic equity by addressing the root causes of poverty through real estate, education, healthcare access, and wealth-building opportunities. We believe all people deserve to live with dignity, security, and purpose, especially those historically excluded from prosperity, including Black and Brown communities, women, and working-class families across the country. We develop and support housing and community-based solutions that are scalable, sustainable, and people-centered. From affordable housing to workforce co-living models like Carehaus, we design spaces that not only provide shelter but also integrate services like job training, food security, childcare, and health support. Our resident services approach strengthens both individuals and neighborhoods, ensuring people don’t just survive, but thrive. Through our Founders Program, we support non-traditional developers—including women and emerging Black and Brown real estate leaders—by offering access to capital, technical assistance, and networks. By expanding who gets to build and own in our communities, we're reshaping the future of equitable development. Our work is grounded in deep listening, data-driven planning, and community-led design. We don’t parachute in—we build trust, grow local capacity, and stay accountable to those we serve. Aequo means equity. It’s not just our name—it’s our North Star. If you believe in building a future where prosperity is shared and dignity is non-negotiable, we’d love to connect.
