About Affordable Housing Resources

Affordable Housing Resources (AHR) is a 501(c)3 non-profit that rents homes to low-income families in Columbia, South Carolina. AHR exists to improve the quality of life for families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by offering affordable rental housing opportunities in Columbia. By providing access to safe, active neighborhoods with good public schools, we hope to provide a stable environment for our tenants and to lessen their risk of homelessness. As no new Section 8 vouchers have been awarded since Columbia Housing Authority closed the list in January 2007, Affordable Housing Resources provides a critically needed service in our community. AHR is a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) through the City of Columbia and Richland County. We currently rent four homes in the Rosewood and Sherwood Forest neighborhoods. AHR defines low-income according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development's standards. An individual qualifies for our housing if they earn no more than 80% of the area median income adjusted for their family size.
