About Africa Climate Resilience
We engage in pre-emptive climate action by attracting and funneling climate finance to frontline rural development projects in Sub-Saharan Africa disproportionately impacted by climate change. They face historic and current inequities, and most acute impacts of climate change, and have limited resources and/or capacity to adapt. These groups are often communities of color, Indigenous, low-income, or those whose lives and livelihoods depend on climate-sensitive natural resources. Many forward thinking organizations in Africa are achieving incredible results with limited means: our goal is to increase investment towards these grassroots projects and scale their progress. These organizations live in silos and are often unaware of funding sources targeting them. Billions of dollars are invested in aid every year, but a significant percentage of the funds are spent on costly overheads and not always fully optimized. It is time funds are optimized and better channeled into direct rural development activities. Goals of Africa Climate Resilience & Adaptation 1) Support front line communities, workers and projects that advance nature-based community climate resilience activities 2) Increase funding towards water and reforestation projects in Sub-Saharan Africa arid zones 3) Enhance the technical, logistical and economic capacity of frontline development workers, communities and organizations in their climate resilience and adaptation work 4) Establish connections, relationships, and mutual learning between grassroots organizations, communities and global communities. 5) Scale up local solutions and lessons learned to global decision makers at various levels of government, private sector and other resourcing entities 6) Scale local solutions out to similar communities facing similar challenges for duplication 7) Support frontline-community initiatives and projects to advance community-based climate resilience.
