The African Energy and Economic Youth Council (AEEYC) is dedicated to driving Africa's energy and economic agenda towards sustainable development. With a mandate that recognizes the importance of hydrocarbons in electrifying Africa, AEEYC also champions the integration of renewable clean technologies and energies into the continent's energy mix. Recognizing the urgent need for a diversified energy portfolio, AEEYC advocates for the adoption of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydrogen, alongside traditional hydrocarbons, to ensure energy security and mitigate climate change impacts. Moreover, AEEYC acknowledges the critical role of minerals in facilitating the transition to a more sustainable energy future. As Africa possesses vast reserves of critical minerals essential for renewable energy technologies, such as lithium, cobalt, and rare earth elements, the council advocates for responsible extraction and utilization of these resources to support the continent's energy transition.
