About African Shark Eco-Charters
Welcome to African Shark Eco-Charters – South Africa’s premier small-group shark cage diving operator. Based in Simon's Town, Cape Town, we specialise in intimate, high-quality shark cage diving tours that deliver a thrilling, close-up encounter with some of the ocean’s most fascinating predators. With over 26 years of experience and a passion for showcasing the wild beauty of False Bay, we offer a more personal and comfortable alternative to large commercial operations. Our focus is on quality over quantity, ensuring you enjoy the best possible experience – both above and below the water. 🦈 What Sets Us Apart? ✅ Smallest Groups in South Africa We take a maximum of 12 guests per trip, allowing for more time in the cage, better photo opportunities, and a more relaxed, friendly atmosphere. You’ll never feel like just a number on our tours. ✅ Cage Diving Using the Hookah System No SCUBA certification needed. Our Hookah diving system allows you to breathe underwater using an air supply from the surface, making it easy, safe, and accessible for first-timers and experienced divers alike. ✅ Experienced Crew & Owner-Operated Led by Rob Lawrence, our team brings deep local knowledge, top-tier professionalism, and decades of hands-on experience in False Bay. Rob has worked alongside documentary crews from National Geographic, Discovery Channel, and BBC, guiding some of the world’s most memorable shark footage. ✅ Fast, Stable & Comfortable Vessel – The Blue Pointer II Our custom-designed boat is built for speed and comfort, getting you to shark hotspots quickly while ensuring a smooth ride—even in changing conditions. Why False Bay? False Bay is a great shark diving location, and it's close to Cape Town, a mere 45-minute drive. After the dive, you can stop off and view the penguins at Boulders Beach and head off to the iconic Cape Point nature reserve.
