The African Studies Association (ASA) was established in 1957 and is the largest globally represented membership organization in the world dedicated to enhancing the exchange of knowledge and information about Africa. The ASA encourages the production and dissemination of knowledge about Africa in both historical and contemporary contexts. The ASA is based in the United States, and aims to cultivate a better understanding of the continent, taking a holistic approach to its areas of focus.
