Welcome to Afrofessional, a platform I created specifically for Black higher education and student affairs professionals to connect, grow, and thrive authentically. The name says it all. Just as we've reclaimed our natural hair in professional spaces, Afrofessional reclaims our narrative in higher education. We're building a space where Black professionals don't have to shrink any part of ourselves to fit into institutions that weren't originally designed for us. Our mission is simple but powerful: to create a supportive network where Black higher ed professionals can share strategies, celebrate victories, and navigate challenges together. This is where we discuss the realities of being one of few Black faces in leadership meetings, the complexities of DEI work, and the invisible labor we carry as unofficial mentors to Black students who need to see us succeed. Here, our roots intertwine to create stronger foundations.
