Founded in 1985, Agency for Community Transit, Inc. (ACT) is a private, non-profit 501 (c)(3) agency incorporated in the State of Illinois. ACT is the exclusive operator of all fixed-route and Runabout paratransit services for Madison County Transit (MCT). ACT is overseen by a three-member Board of Directors. www.mct.org In 1993, the state of Illinois granted the transit district's permissive authority to own and maintain bikeways. The 137 miles of MCT Trails system is one of the most extensive, user-friendly Class 1 bikeway systems in the country. www.MCTtrails.org Following the Clean Air Act of 1990, MCT became the operator of the St. Louis regional commuter rideshare program serving 9 counties in Missouri and Illinois. www.RideFinders.org
