About Aiken Heart Films
Aiken Heart Films is an independent film company based in Toronto, Canada. Coral Aiken founded Aiken Heart Films in 2014 to champion unique talents, and connect with an engaged audience. Aiken Heart Films has produced three feature films, and many shorts. Feature credits include noir western BIG MUDDY (TIFF 2013), and the dark mystery THE PEOPLE GARDEN (BAFICI 2016), featuring Pamela Anderson. Their films have screened in competition internationally at Cannes Cinéfondation, TIFF, Sarajevo, Seattle, Buenos Aires, in the Locarno Academy, and on Nowness.com. Directed by the acclaimed Canadian director Valerie Buhagiar, CARMEN is Aiken Heart’s first international co-production. Shot in Malta and starring Natascha McElhone, CARMEN premiered at the Whistler Film Festival 2021 winning best cinematography in a Borsos competition film and was a New York Times Critic’s Pick. Aiken Heart’s latest short film SUCCOR, starring Deragh Campbell, premiered at TIFF 2020 and was a Vimeo Staff Pick in 2022. A feature adaptation is in development with writer director Hannah Cheesman. Coral Aiken studied as a director at York University, MFA and at Berlinale Talents. She is an alumna of TIFF Studio, and EAVE. Coral teaches at LIFT, York University and the Canadian Film Centre.
