About AIR Amsterdam
Since opening its doors on Queen’s Night in 2010, AIR quickly established itself as one of the defining venues in Amsterdam’s nightlife. Built on the legacy of the legendary club iT, AIR was designed as a fresh start – a space to celebrate music, diversity, and freedom. With a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system and a thoughtful interior design, the club became a home for countless international DJs, live acts, and cultural events. Over the years, AIR was not just a venue but also a cultural platform, contributing to the creation of festivals such as Amsterdam Open Air and Milkshake, and bringing together a vibrant international community. In the years following COVID-19, AIR sought new ways to innovate and partnered with Our House, the world’s first electronic music experience museum, located in the same building. This collaboration combined nightlife with cultural programming and immersive storytelling, bridging the worlds of clubbing and heritage. When Our House declared bankruptcy in the summer of 2024, the partnership came to an end. Despite strong visitor numbers, the broader challenges facing nightlife could not be fully overcome. In April 2025, after nearly 15 years of operation, AIR closed its doors. AIR’s story remains one of creativity, inclusivity, and connection. For almost a decade and a half, it provided a stage for international talent and local communities alike, creating an atmosphere where music, culture, and people came together. Its legacy continues to resonate in Amsterdam’s nightlife and cultural landscape.
