About Air Force Armament Directorate
We're building the future $92 billion weapons portfolio. The performance of United States' weapons systems must remain unmatched, ensuring the U.S. military forces have a tactical combat advantage over any adversary in any environmental situation. OUR MISSION The Armament Directorate Systems Development Division's mission is to harvest, mature, demonstrate and transition the best ideas into disruptive national munitions capabilities. At our core, we want every Airman who enters combat to be confident that they have the best weapons technology at their disposal, creating massive advantages over our adversaries, and ensuring victory before a shot is fired. OUR PROCESS Starting with an understanding of the warfighter need, we develop and/or match innovative technologies to these needs to create future weapons concepts. We create digital, open-systems architectures of these concepts and their operational environments and then optimize the concepts via live, virtual, and constructive test and analyses campaigns. We prototype/demonstrate the best concepts in realistic environments prior to transitioning them to production and delivery to the warfighter. We seek out and are committed to working with all idea generators whether they be from large business, small business, individuals, academia, or elsewhere. OUR PROGRAMS The Armament Systems Development Division is the sole executing agent of the Air Forces Future Advanced Weapon Analysis & Programs funding line. The scope of our program portfolio includes the following domains: Air-to-Air, Exquisite Long Ranged Strike, Affordable Mass, Airbase Defense, and Non-Traditional Delivery.
