About Air Plains Services, Corp
Air Plains Services Corporation is a leading supplier of aircraft modifications located in Wellington, Kansas (25 miles south of Wichita). Founded in 1977 by Mike Kelley, Air Plains has grown to become the industry leader in engine upgrades and additional products to support the legacy fleet. Air Plains is also called on by some of the biggest names in aviation to offer advice, opinions and expertise. Our growth and expansion over the past decade has created several opportunities to offer new and exciting products in our specialized market. In 1999 we added the 172R models to the 180HP STC upgrade and in 2018 the 182S/T, 182RG 260HP option was added to the product line. For the past 30+ years we have been installing IO-520 and IO-550 engines on Cessna Skylanes (1965 thru 1986). As well as Lycoming O-360 engines to the legacy Cessna 172 aircraft. In 2004 Air Plains added a new manufacturing facility adjacent to the maintenance build which enables us to fabricate rapid prototyping parts in aluminum, steel, and titanium. Currently the shop operates three CNC Mills and an 80x120 inches router table. A 200 Ton hydro-press, 10 feet press break and a 12 feet roll were also added to aid in the fabrication of sheet metal parts. Our staff is trained to execute all the stages of the manufacturing process. This approach allows us to produce prototype parts faster and to assure that the final product is acceptable to the job. With our commitment to apply new technologies and know how, we will continue to offer performance and safety enhancing improvements to more aircraft owners. Employees at Air Plains Services are dedicated to the production of quality, value, performance, and safety. With years of modification and maintenance experience, you can rest assured that the Air Plains product you purchase has been built with quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. We take exceptional pride in what we offer.
