The Terceira Island Youth Association - AJITER is a non-profit organization that was established in April 2003 with the main objective of promoting a strengthening of Youth Associations in the Azorean community. The aim was to integrate young people into the communities in which they operate, in a fight against the widespread indifference often felt in our youth. Since then, much work has been done. We have had a social and community intervention in various areas of relevance to youth, such as citizenship education, health education, prevention of risky behavior, solidarity, combating social exclusion, sport, promoting access to the new society, information, appreciation of the historical and cultural heritage of Terceira Island, among many others. The year 2009 marked an important turning point and expansion in its institutional life. Firstly, due to the change in our institutional image that has been adapted to the new challenges of the new age of communication as a way to get closer to our young people. In addition, AJITER has launched the AJITER Card, a Terceirenses Youth Card, which gives all its holders a set of benefits and added value. On June 4, 2010, AJITER was declared a Public Utility Institution by the President of the Azores Regional Government, Carlos César. Currently, our association is distinguished by the organization of the “Angra com Futuro” Fair, an entrepreneurship fair held every year in the city of Angra do Heroísmo, and the organization of the “Angra Sound Bay”, a contest that awards projects.
