About Alajo

Alajo is an Escrowed Digital Savings Platform for the Under(un)banked in Africa, without the need of internet access. We do this by helping the grassroot population save money every day (avg. $2.13 per day) using USSD, IVR and SMS through POS and Money Agents in their communities, delivered via a Savings Infrastructure. Opportunely, the under(un)banked now has access to financial products, services and opportunities from Corporates through data analyzed from their transactions. Internet is 83% more expensive in Africa than in other parts of the world, with 854million unconnected to the internet and 908million under(un)banked who no longer trust the ancient savings model where a thrift operator goes round the community to help everyone save money, because of fund misappropriation and diversion; leaving them disconnected from the digital cash economy. Domestic Savings from research has been proven to improve a country’s economic position, this is why governments in Africa are promoting programs to foster savings.
