About Alan Klinkhoff Gallery
Alan Klinkhoff Gallery is a fine art dealing firm serving collectors through its galleries in Toronto and Montreal, as well as online. With a family tradition in the art business since 1949, the Klinkhoff family offers unsurpassed expertise in the purchase and sale of works of art of the highest quality. We provide guidance in all aspects of art collecting, including buying, selling, appraisals, restoration, insurance and storage. Alan and Jonathan Klinkhoff are members in good standing of the Canadian Association of Personal Property Appraisers. Over the years the Klinkhoff family has served many distinguished Canadians and helped to build some of Canada’s most prominent private collections, including the collections of Kenneth Thomson, John A. MacCauley, and E.P Taylor. It has also helped to develop some of Canada's foremost corporate collections, including the collections of Imperial Oil, Power Corporation of Canada, and Scotiabank. Museums such as the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the National Gallery of Canada have also purchased works through the Klinkhoff's galleries. The Klinkhoff family acquired works directly from some of Canada's foremost artists, their representatives, and their estates, including A.Y. Jackson, Arthur Lismer, Edwin Holgate, Kathleen M. Morris, Clarence A. Gagnon, Marc-Aurele Fortin, Robert Pilot, Jean Paul Riopelle, Paul-Emile Borduas, and Jean Paul Lemieux, to name a selection. In 2017, Alan Klinkhoff Gallery was selected to sell a collection of paintings by Lawren S. Harris from the Collection of Mitzi & Mel Dobrin. Valued at over $35 million, it was the most valuable single consignment of Canadian art known to date. In 2025, Alan Klinkhoff, was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal in honour of the Klinkhoff family’s longstanding dedication to Canadian art.
