About Alas Dance Company

Alas Dance Company is a dance company and academy focused on discovering and developing the talent of children, youth and adults in the art of dance, to discover and expand their cultural, spiritual and creative world, training them with ballet, contemporary, and other dance styles. Alas Dance Company is directed by Lidice Nuñez, former First Dancer and Principal choreographer of the National Company of Contemporary Dance of Cuba. Alas Dance Company is created with an extensive artistic proposal and creative, original dance shows, both in teaching and in its concept and stage projection. It is a different proposal, with a high artistic level, harmoniously integrating different expressions of art such as contemporary dance, ballet, music, cinema, poetry, acrobatics, among others artistics manifestations. It is a different proposal that will expand and renew the world of Houston dance because it is a proposal that combines all the best in art, rigor, creativity, beauty, professionalism, with dancers who have an excellent technical and interpretative level, and amazing choreographies where the body connects with the soul, assimilated by all kinds of public. In both the Academy and the Alas Dance Company, the body connects with the soul and unfolds from sensations, sensitivities, to make an instrument on which research, creation and proposal on stage are supported because we conceive dance as the possibility of expressing the great and the divine of the human being. The Alas Dance Company has its own repertoire created by its choreographer and director and by international choreographers in co-creation programs. We seek to innovate in the ways of expressing our contemporary identity, returning to the dance as a space of expression of the soul through body language in search of a symbolic language that identifies us and enhances the beauty of existing.
