The Gatehouse Ale & Aloo at Tyldesley, just a 15-minute drive from Manchester city centre, is the northwest’s first Indian gastropub. It’s where the Best of British meets the Best of Indian serving a variety of British-Indian fusion dishes including small plates, pub classics and curries. Head Chef and Landlord Xavier Bastian spent 20 years working for Asha’s, opening venues across the globe, and has brought all his experience to bear on his new venture. The small plates include classics such as Lamb Seekh Kebab and Tandoori Chicken Tikka whilst special dishes Include Chicken Biryani with Cinnamon and Rose Water and Rogan Josh. There are also British pub classics such as Fish & Chips, Pie & Mash and Burger and desserts include an Indian-inspired Sticky Toffee Pudding with Cardamom and Star Anise. You can eat and drink both inside and out at The Gatehouse or just drop in for a game of darts or pool and enjoy a pint of Cask ale.
