About Aleph-Bet Books
Aleph-Bet Books has sold first editions of collectible, vintage, and rare children's books since 1977. The firm’s inventory is especially strong in books from 1800-1965 including those by authors Lewis Carroll, A. A. Milne, L. M. Montgomery, illustrators from the Brandywine School (Pyle, Wyeth, Parrish, Jessie Willcox Smith, etc.), Arthur Rackham, Edmund Dulac, Kay Nielsen, Willy Pogany, Charles & W. Heath Robinson, Harry Clarke, Walter Crane, Beatrix Potter, Kate Greenaway, Maurice Sendak, Margaret Wise Brown, Tasha Tudor, and Dr. Seuss, vintage pop-ups and moveable books, and African-American interest. Proprietors Helen and Marc Younger have been members of the preeminent rare booksellers trade associations—Antiquarian Booksellers’ Association of America and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers—since 1985. Helen has published articles on collecting rare children's books and co-authored a bibliography on the works of Dr. Seuss. Our firm has expertise dealing in Seuss books and related material, and has extensive inventory. In addition to online inventory, we issue three printed catalogues per year and exhibit at the New York Antiquarian Book Fair and the California International Antiquarian Book Fair. We are also actively seeking to buy fine copies in excellent condition. Because the material we sell was often read and re-read by young children, finding material in this condition is unusual. Please contact us if you think you have something we'd like. We work with everyone from novice and seasoned collectors to those simply seeking a unique gift. We have also built collections that are now housed in prestigious libraries at universities and institutions. We have interesting material at many price points and are happy to assist you in whatever you're looking for. Contact us to discuss your interests or to make an appointment to visit.
