Alexandria’s Original Ghost & Graveyard Tour, located in Old Town, offers an entertaining & educational experience filled with ghost stories, legends & folklore. Walking tours are a 28-year Old Town tradition & explore Old Town's streets & back alleys. All tours are led by Colonial costumed guides with authentic 18th century lanterns. Tours are offered to the public from mid-March thru Nov. Groups can also hire guides for a private tour. Wedding parties, students & groups of all kinds can schedule tours & be led by their own private guide any time of the year except October weekends. Tours include: * The Ghost & Graveyard Tour-Follow a guide in 18th-century costume through haunted streets of Old Town. Listen to ghost stories, legends & folklore as you tour the city by lantern light! Hear about unsolved mysteries, tales of romance & angry ghosts looking for revenge. (Special Halloween Tour also available) * African-American History Tour-Take a journey from slavery to freedom; from segregation to equality & from hardship to triumph. The saga from enslaved people to leadership positions in business, government & arts is among the greatest of American stories. Alexandria is uniquely qualified to tell that story. * The Historic Walking Tour-Walk in the footsteps of George Washington & Robert E. Lee along our brick-lined streets, by elegant Federal homes & cobblestone alleyways. From Colonial times thru the Civil War, Alexandria has been the scene of many “firsts” in American history.
