About Ali Academy

Ali is the Arabic word for higher. The goal is not just to have scholars graduate from college or have successful careers, but for scholars, staff, and parents to realize their purpose, their greatness, and their responsibility to humanity and strive to achieve at higher levels than they ever thought possible. Children and families should embrace the idea that their greatness is within reach. We do this through Relevance, Rigor, and Righteousness. Relevance - the work must be related to social justice and/or careers. These two are linked as one’s economic empowerment is often important factors for their ability to create justice for themselves, their families, and their communities. To this end every scholar must get an industry recognized certification by the time they graduate e.g. auto mechanics, web design, plumbing. Rigor - Every child must be able to read and write on grade level. If children are to advocate for their rights and the rights of others they must be able to read critically and write convincingly. Righteousness - We seek the betterment of the world but also our own betterment. To this end we explicitly teach character. We do so primarily through sports. Every child must participate in sports. Sports catch you when you’re tired, annoyed and/or angry, and requires you to still perform and to still be a good person.
