About ALLELES Design Studio
The ALLELES Design Studio is a Canadian design & manufacturing company that aims to provide choice for the amputee community. Every single cover that is fabricated at ALLELES is made-to-order to accommodate most prosthetic devices through our mass customization process. To maximize durability and functionality, we use subtractive manufacturing rather than 3D printing. With a decade worth of research and development, ALLELES continues to be a leader of innovation in the prosthetic cover industry. Our mission has always been to shift the public perception of people living with disabilities. Similar to the evolution of the eyeglass industry, ALLELES believes that design is capable of combining a functional device with a personal statement. Our covers have been developed with prosthetists in mind, which is why they are removable & adjustable; allow for unrestricted access to a prosthesis; and required measurements can be taken in a single visit. Co-founders, Ryan Palibroda (background: art/architecture) and McCauley Wanner (background: industrial design/ux/fashion) launched ALLELES online in October 2013 making their prosthetic covers accessible to amputees, prosthetists and clinics worldwide. Prioritizing disability awareness in mainstream culture has gained ALLELES recognition globally with work being showcased: On @Instagram, at the Whitehouse (Obama Administration | Washington, DC), Museum of Man (Paris, France), Telus Science Center (Calgary, AB), Museum of Science and Technology (Ottawa), Kent State Museum of Fashion (Kent, Ohio), Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum (New York, NY), The World Economic Forum (Davos, Switzerland), and the Carnegie Museum of Art (Pittsburgh, PA).
