The Challenge: Medically underserved communities are much less likely than others to be informed about genetic and hereditary aspects of health, and that genetic counseling and testing are available that can save lives and reduce suffering. These populations are also less likely than others to have genomic healthcare providers available who are from their communities and who understand their unique needs.
