About Alliance for New Jersey Environmental Education

The Alliance for New Jersey Environmental Education (ANJEE) is a privately supported, non-profit professional organization, established in 1985, that provides a networking forum for New Jersey's environmental educators. ANJEE is an organization of dedicated individuals who devote time, energy, and resources to facilitate the advancement of environmental education in our local, state, and global communities. It is an organization whose purpose is to provide a structure for its members which facilitates the improvement of environmental education efforts. ANJEE's headquarters were established at the Scherman-Hoffmann Sanctuary in Bernardsville, part of the New Jersey Audubon Society, where it still resides today. Established by and administered primarily by volunteers, the alliance facilitates communication, cooperation, collaboration, and coordination among the varied environmental education programs in the state and is proud to serve as the New Jersey affiliate of the North America Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE). ANJEE works to ensure everyone in New Jersey has an opportunity to learn about the environment where they live, valuing inclusiveness and welcoming everyone to the field of environmental education. It continues to grow thanks to its variety of members from across New Jersey including teachers of New Jersey's school districts, professors and administrators in universities and colleges, environmentalists in museums, zoos, and nature centers, to professionals of governmental agencies and corporate settings, and many more. Although their professions in the environmental and other fields are varied their chief reason for membership in the Alliance is to network with others who care about developing and conserving local natural habitat and resources.
