About Alliance Française of Calgary
The Alliance Française of Calgary is a registered charitable organization dedicated to the promotion of the French language and culture. Founded in 1947, the Alliance Française de Calgary is the only language school dedicated to French in Calgary with more than 1,000 students per year: weekday or weekend, you'll find all sorts of courses adapted to your needs, availability and objectives. We offer specialised courses, private tuitions, conversation classes, school programs, intensives courses and more! The AFC encourages and promotes active, open connections between people in Calgary and French language and culture. It provides the means by which people can learn the French language and become engaged in the many different aspects of French culture including art, books, poetry, film, history, gastronomy, contemporary affairs, thoughts and ideas. After two moves in 2011 and 2012, the Alliance Française of Calgary has settled in a new space in downtown Calgary since October 2012. Since, the AFC is proud to offer Calgarians a wider opportunity to discover the French language and culture with two locations for more services. Offering French courses in Marda Loop since June 2012, the Alliance Française of Calgary has joined a neighborhood that is really nice to live in and easily accessible. Located near major transportation routes, the Lycée Louis Pasteur is 10 minutes from downtown and has free parking available. At the same time, opening of the Administration Office and the Media library downtown gives the Alliance Française a chance to expand its services. French classes, conversation workshops and theme nights (wine and cheese tasting, French areas discovery and more...) are offered right in the vibrant heart of Calgary. A first-floor open room with a cozy decoration, an espresso coffee machine an Wi-Fi free access is an ideal place to have a break while reading the best of French and international press.
