About Alliance Mondiale Contre le Cancer (AMCC)

The AMCC is an NGO (law 1901) created in 2001, whose aim is to reinforce the fight against cancer in sub-Saharan Africa, in a sustainable way, through the initial and ongoing training of local teams, assistance with care equipment, exchanges between care professionals (doctors, nurses, technicians, etc.), teaching and the transmission of skills, the creation of research programs and assistance with the early diagnosis of cancers, a key element in improving cancer care in these low-income countries. Over the years, the AMCC has met with numerous medical teams in sub-Saharan Africa, forging strong and lasting collaborations, working in partnership with several African and international learned societies (GFAOP,...) , and striving to make its actions directly useful to cancer sufferers. Three programs are currently underway: - the “Help with diagnosis” program. Accurate anatomopathological and biological diagnosis is a prerequisite for the proper management of cancer patients. - Pain and palliative care” program. All too often, patients still come to hospital with malignant tumors in very advanced, sometimes incurable, stages. Palliative care is essential if patients are to enjoy a humanly acceptable quality of life. - the “Retinoblastoma” program. Retinoblastoma is an eye cancer of children, whose mortality rate is still very high in low-income countries. Early diagnosis and training of teams in its multidisciplinary management are an integral part of the AMCC program.
