About Alliance to Protect Insulin Choice
Everyone who uses insulin as a life-saving therapy should have access to insulins of their choice, that serve them best. APIC is a registered public charity in the USA (EIN 33-2260922) that is comprised of parents, individuals, care givers, and loved ones of those with insulin-dependent diabetes, who volunteer their time to protect insulin options, to ensure that patients have access to the life-saving medications that best serve them. Sixty-two insulins have been discontinued in the past several decades, and none for safety or effectiveness. We don't have many more to lose. The most recent discontinuation notice from Novo Nordisk is for insulin Levemir (detemir). Novo Nordisk has been the sole manufacturer of this insulin for 20 years. We are asking them to slow the discontinuation until a biosimilar (generic) is available.
